      <image:title>The Farmstand - That farmstand feeling.</image:title>
<image:caption>Ah, true Americana, small town USA vibes. We love the simplicity and graciousness of a roadside farmstand. During the peak growing season (approx. Mid-July to Late-September), we try to keep the stand stocked as often as we can with fresh produce straight from our gardens. And if not from our gardens, we aim to source as locally and sustainably as possible. Fresh flower restocks are announced on our social media pages for when the stand will be stocked/open. We are not open daily, so please check our social media pages/stories for more accurate information, as this changes in real-time. We accept exact cash and Venmo (@RootsOnReid). Prices are marked on the farmstand. Please note, the farmstand operates on a first-come, first-serve basis. We would love for everyone to go home with something they love, but sometimes things sell-out at lightning speed. For special orders that require more predictability, please visit our “Contact Us” page to inquire further.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Care Tips - Flower care:</image:title>
<image:caption>We love that you love your flowers. Please follow these recommended care tips to help your blooms last as long as possible: —- Start with a clean vase or vessel: the foundation to long vase-life is a cleanly vase! Fill your vase/vessel almost all the way with water (lukewarm temperature is usually best). Think of flower stems as perfect green straws— having plenty of water available helps those beauties drink (they can be very thirsty!) Trim your flowers to fit your vase and cut the stems on a 45-degree angle. This allows maximum water intake and prevents the stem from sitting flat against the bottom of the vase. Note: Daffodils/Narcissus exude a sap when their stems are cut, and this sap is toxic to other flowers and can kill them. If you have a mixed bouquet that includes daffodils, trim the daffodils and keep in a separate water source for several hours before adding back with the other flowers. The daffodils will eventually form a “scab” over the cut and stop oozing the sap. Repeat this step every time the stems are cut. Every 1-2 days, dump your vase water and add fresh water. If the flower’s “straw” (stem) gets plugged up with gunk floating in the water, that straw gets clogged. Open stems = more water = happy flowers = happy people! You may also give the stems a little trim (~1/2 inch) with each water change. All stems will form the little “scabs” mentioned above (see: daffodil note) to try and repair where they were cut. Wild, right?! So, give a quick trim to keep that “straw” open. Remove any dead flowers as time goes on. You can also extend the longer-lasting flowers from an arrangement by placing them in bud vases or small vases after the others have faded. Keep the enjoyment going (some can last a really time!) ** Optional: Add a tiny bit of lemon juice and/or bleach (1-2 tsp) for an easy DIY flower food. This can also help cut down on bacteria growth for healthier blooms. ** Please: Keep your fresh flowers away from: ripening fruit, direct sunlight, direct airflow (air conditioners), and direct heat flow (heaters, radiators). They get unhappy with these things! Flowers are intended for aesthetic purposes only: do not ingest or consume anything from a bouquet, even if it looks delicious! Please be mindful no pets, children, or other living-beings you love have a snack out of your bouquet either! Our flowers are friends, not food ;) —- We hope you enjoy your fresh, locally grown flowers!</image:caption>

      <image:title>Care Tips - Wreath Care:</image:title>
<image:caption>It’s the most wonderful time of the year, which wouldn’t be complete without delightful decor for your door (or anywhere you please!) Help keep your fresh evergreen wreath/swag looking just as wonderful with these recommended tips: Outdoor use is recommended for the longest life. The cold weather and natural air moisture will do a fantastic job keeping things fresh. Every so often, or if looking on the dry side (especially in your wreath is in a sunny spot), simply spritz with water, focusing on the back branches the most (they take up more water here). If placed outdoors, but between two doors, it will need a little extra assistance getting enough moisture. Follow the above water-spritzing step, but more often (we recommend every few days). For indoor use, mist with water every 1-2 days and keep away from heat vents and radiators. After the holiday season is over, extend your wreath by swapping out any Christmas-y bows/accents with more neutral colors (think: natural browns, blues, white, greens). You’ll be set for the rest of winter! — For outdoor use, expect 3-4+ months life after following these tips (our personal wreaths often still look great when taken down in March). For indoor use, expect 2-3 weeks with these tips.</image:caption>

<image:caption>As we first got into gardening, we fell in love with the joy and hope it brought to us. We quickly realized that we wanted to share this feeling with our community. <image:caption>Grown here. By hand. On a small-scale. We can tell you exactly where everything has grown, when it was harvested, and by who (hint: it is one of two of us!). This is the beauty of being a local grower. And not only do we love providing our community with what we grow, but we also love connecting with others through the process.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Our Roots - Rewind to 2019.</image:title>
<image:caption>My now-husband, Blake, and I were engaged, and in the midst of trying to plan a wedding + finding a house to buy, we said, “no more house hunting”, and planned to look after our wedding. Well, then Blake saw a listing for a cute and quaint 1940s farmhouse on Reid Road in Grand Blanc. We fell in love and bought it shortly after we said, “we aren’t buying a house now!” Oh… life is funny! It came with an abandoned garden area that was hard to even notice, because it was so overgrown with tall grass and weeds. As we worked to renovate our new living space and get married, a garden was the last thing on our minds. Looking back, it feels serendipitous, as couldn’t have been more perfect for what we’d end up doing…we just didn’t know it at the time!</image:caption>

      <image:title>Our Roots - Firmly Rooted.</image:title>
<image:caption>As we cleared out the garden space, we brainstormed ideas of the farmstand we had also been dreaming of. I pitched a million random name ideas as I yanked up miles of old weed mat (or at least what felt like miles!) As roots strongly held down that weed mat, I said, “ROOTS…Roots on Reid!” The name stuck, and we were able to clear the land for gardening at last and build our quarantine-dream farm stand.</image:caption>
